主讲人简介

Istvan Kecskes is a professor of Linguistics and Communication at the State University of New York, Albany, USA where he teaches graduate courses in pragmatics, second language acquisition and bilingualism.  He holds a PhD in linguistics from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and an honorary degree and professorship from Zhejiang University, China.

His latest publications include five books (Kecskes, I. & T. Papp. 2000, Foreign Language and Mother Tongue. Erlbaum; Kecskes, I. 2003, Situation-Bound Utterances in L1 and L2. Mouton; Kecskes, I. & L. Albertazzi. 2007. Cognitive Aspects of Bilingualism. Springer; Kecskes, I. & L. Horn. 2007. Explorations in Pragmatics. Mouton; Kecskes, I. & J. Mey.eds. Intention, Common Ground and the Egocentric Speaker-Hearer. Mouton) and numerous articles published in prestigious journals such as Journal of Pragmatics, Pragmatics & Cognition, International Journal of Bilingualism, Second Language Research, International Journal of Multilingualism, Intercultural Pragmatics, WORD and others.

Professor Kecskes is the founding editor of the linguistics journal Intercultural Pragmatics and the Mouton Series in Pragmatics published by Mouton de Gruyter: Berlin/New York. He sits on the editorial board of the Journal of Pragmatics (Elsevier) Pragmatics & Society (Benjamins), the International Journal of Multilingualism (Taylor & Francis), and the Journal of Foreign Languages published in China. Dr. Kecskes is also on the editorial board of two book series: Series in Pragmatics (Cambridge Scholarly Publishing), and Pragmatic Interfaces (Equinox). He was the guest editor of a special issue of the International Journal of Bilingualism (Kingston Press) on cognitive approaches to bilingualism. 

Professor Kecskes received a senior fellowship from the Rockefeller Foundation in the Rockefeller Research Center in Bellagio, Italy in 2004 and a senior fellowship from the Mitteleuropa Foundation, Bolzano, Italy in 2005. In 2011, Professor Kecskes received the Award for Excellence in Research and Creative Activities at the State University of New York.

He has taught as a visiting professor in the Masters and PhD Programs at many universities all over the world including the University of Complutense, Madrid; Autonomous University of Barcelona, University of Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, University of Granada, Stellenbosch University, South Africa, Griffith University, Australia, Shanghai International Studies University, University of Geneva, Switzerland, International Christian University, Japan, and others.
